Research Chemist

MFM Building Products is a growing manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing membranes used in commercial and residential construction. The Research Chemist (RC) is a middle management, day shift, salaried position that reports to the Technical Service Manager. The RC will assist with research and development projects and evaluations as directed by the company. Projects may include raw material evaluation, testing of competitor products, product development, product improvements, and assisting with production trials. The RC will interact with the QC Department and QC Laboratory Technicians, and work in the QC Department as required.

Requirements:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments to develop new products and/or product improvements

  • Design and execute research studies to improve products, processes, and equipment

  • Document research producers, data, and test results

  • Conduct laboratory testing on mastics and finished products and enter test reports

  • Perform all QC technician duties during their absence

  • Fill-in and assist with production crews when requested

  • Work weekends when assigned / required (see below)

  • Be flexible to work ALL shifts

  • Assist with developing testing protocol and procedures

  • Perform QC audits and inventory on product, labels, instructions, etc.

  • Enter production data from QC Technicians as required

  • Others duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in related Science (Chemistry, Biology, Petroleum, etc.)

  • Minimum of two years experience in a QC, product development, or other related field

  • Excellent written, verbal and computer skills

  • Proven work ethic and attendance record

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with laboratory procedures and equipment

Job Description

Process Engineer

MFM Building Products Corporation, a leading manufacturer of waterproofing membranes and related building products located in Coshocton, Ohio, is seeking a Process Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time, day shift position in our Coshocton manufacturing facility - no travel is required.

The Process Engineer will support plant operations by analyzing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety. This role will focus on continuous improvement, reducing scrap, and ensuring reliable production operations while supporting company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and quality

  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap, minimize downtime, and improve reliability

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards, including MFM’s Safety Absolutes

  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects across production lines

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions

  • Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement

  • Collaborate with production managers, engineers, and maintenance teams to support new equipment installations and process changes

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities for process-related issues

  • Provide training and guidance to operators and production staff on process changes and best practices

  • Participate in cross-functional projects to support company growth and operational excellence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred

  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools

  • Ability to analyze complex production data and provide actionable recommendations

  • Proficiency in CAD, process simulation, or other engineering software preferred

  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities with cross-functional teams

Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician

MFM Building Products Corp., founded in 1961, is seeking to fill a Maintenance Technician position to join our team. MFM is located in Coshocton, Ohio, and all work would be performed at this production facility. No travel required. Some weekends may be required, as needed.

We are specifically looking for 2nd Shift (3:00 pm-11:00 pm) and 3rd Shift (11:00 pm-7:00 am)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent 2 years experience in a similar position (maintenance, machine repair, automotive repair, electrical background, welding)

  • Valid drivers license

  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing facility needed

  • Knowledge of industrial and mechanical equipment

  • Basic knowledge and experience working with PLC control systems, electrical, automation controls, and mechanical diagnostics

  • Able to work in a team setting

  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort, occasionally involves lifting, carrying, and pushing objects

  • General knowledge and ability to operate tow motors, scissor lift, drills, grinders, etc.

  • Perform normal/typical industrial maintenance tasks

  • Awareness and adherence to all company safety policies
